Jefferson really wanted to know How far the Missouri river would flow So he asked two men, Lewis and Clark To place on history America’s mark.
Twenty five hundred Was what they got. And these are some Of the supplies they bought.
Medicine, guns, Whiskey and stuff. Yet all they bought Was still not enough.
They wrote in their journals Every day. About their encounters along the way. Describing what the expedition found. Saving for history each Sight and sound.
With Sacagawea as their guide, Lewis and Clark on her relied To get the Indians on their side. So the Corps of Discovery didn’t have to hide. |

On their journey They mapped the land To make our knowledge Of the country expand Sacagawea Was in great demand Because things didn’t go As the explorers planned
Prairie dogs, jack rabbits, Coyotes, antelope Were new discoveries That gave America hope
As they followed the Missouri River The fear of Indians made them shiver But the ones they met Were helpful and kind Easier routes they helped them find
Some two years later After exploring the west They arrived back home With more hair on their chest All but York Got money, land, and fame The Corps of Discovery We’ll never forget their name |

They ventured for the coast Hoping to find The Northwest Passage Which was on Jefferson’s mind
There was a young Indian lady Who came along Her name was Sacagawea And she made them strong Before the journey She became a mother And later met Her long lost brother She helped with translation Kept them from starvation In tough situations She was an inspiration This nation will never forget The Indian girl that the explorers met
As they traveled across Unknown land Nothing they did Was ever planned
After being gone for two and a half years They were greeted With lots of hugs and cheers In every city they had a parade Celebrating the history That Lewis and Clark made

The Corps of Discovery Was their name They all hoped For lots of riches and fame
They bought a boat in a box An air powered gun Some pills to help you go And their journey had just begun
They started on their way With about 45 guys Who complained a lot About the mosquitoes and flies
Clark brought York His long time slave Who proved himself To be very brave
Sacagawea walked by their side An Indian girl who became their guide She helped with the food And with the translation In every situation Her determination Helped them to reach Their final destination
They were gone for 2 ½ years Returned to many celebrations and cheers Clark ends up getting showered with wealth And Lewis just ends up killing himself Lewis and Clark helped to finish the map So that’s the end of the green class rap
